The city of the Saracen Joust lies at the centre of four valleys: the Casentino, the Valtiberina, the Valdichiama and the Valdarno. Important Roman and Etruscan sites can be seen here, as well as valuable artistic works by Cimabue, Piero della Francesca and Della Robbia.
These are the ruins of a splendid castle that was once briefly home to the poet, Dante Alighieri. The castle’s dungeons inspired the Inferno’s circles of hell in the Divine Comedy.
